Oil & Gas

Energy Laboratories offers complete services for development in the oil and gas industry, including crude oil analysis, petroleum testing and pre- and post-drilling evaluation of oilfield water.

Crude Oil Analysis

Because crude oil characteristics and quality vary widely, our complete crude oil analysis provides analytical data needed by the oil industry to evaluate value and refining compatibility. In 10 working days, you will receive a full report of the sample submitted which will include

  • Viscosity
  • Sulfur content
  • Pour point
  • Hempel distillation
  • API and specific gravities
  • Bottom sediment and water

Our Fingerprint Analysis Guide is of particular benefit to clients in the petroleum industry. Review that guide, here.

Natural Gas Analysis

Like crude oil, the composition and quality of natural gas varies widely. Proper analysis will provide natural gas development companies the critical information needed to determine its value as well as whether the natural gas discovered may have contaminants which might affect combustion.

Every natural gas sample submitted to Energy Laboratories is analyzed for:

  • Methane (through Hexanes plus)
  • Nitrogen
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Hydrogen Sulfide
  • BTU
  • Specific Gravity
  • Pseudo-critical temperature and pressure

Oilfield Water Analysis

The analysis of oilfield water is a key component in the exploration for oil and gas formations. The water in various fields can be dramatically different based on the type and concentration of dissolved minerals it contains; as such, water samples may help pinpoint the existence of hydrocarbons such as crude oil or natural gas.

Our analysis will provide exploration companies information they need to make critical business decisions. We screen for:

  • Barium, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and sodium
  • Chlorides and sulfates
  • Carbonate and bicarbonate
  • Total dissolved solids
  • Specific gravity and resistivity
